Head
New head installation
|

We installed a new head. What a treat! We chose the Raritan Cricket head
because it uses a diaphragm pump to move the waste. We have been moderately
happy with it. All plumbing is SeaLand OdorSafe hose. It's $8/ft, but well
worth every penny.
|
|

The waste is routed directly from the head to the holding
tank. We can empty the holding tank via the typical deck fitting at a pump-out
facility, or via the thru-hull by using the large diaphragm pump mounted below the sink
(now workbench).
|
|

The advantage of this system is that we can operate
the head with all thru-hulls closed. We use fresh or salt water, held in a gallon jug near the
head, to flush the toilet, and the waste goes directly to the hold tank. The large thru-hull is only
opened when we are at sea and pumping out the holding tank.
